Chinese Zotye Electric SUV Comes To America – by Nino Marchetti, July 6th, 2010

Auto importer Green Automotive Company has debuted what it says the first all electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) in America. The company is exclusively importing to our shores from Chinese auto manufacturer Zotye a SUV that is rated 0 to 60 in 9.5 seconds and drives a maximum range of up to 250 miles on a single charge.

The Zotye SUV, according to Green Automotive, looks like it will be available through a network of dealers across the country being developed by EVCarCo. The importer said interested consumers will be able to customize the vehicle via a $995 deposit. These customization options will include “theme wraps, interior combinations, electronics and custom paint.” Once the customization is done the SUV will be available for delivery within 120 days.

Features of the Zotye will include a max speed of 70 MPH, front wheel drive, a 27 kW DC motor, A/C. heat, power windows, power locks, a DVD audio system, an integrated electric system monitoring screen and both regular and fast charging support. The vehicle will seat four and has five doors.

“We think electric vehicles are finally here to stay and the market is ready for them,” said Dale Long, EvCarco Founder & CEO, in a statement. “And, we love the quality of the Zotye. Green Automotive is not only on the right course, but way ahead of the competition in my view.”

Green Automotive Signs 10-Year Extension with Zotye as Exclusive US Agency for New All-Electric SUV “under $35K”

Dec. 22, 2010
Agreement includes Joint Venture for final assembly plant stateside

DALLAS–Green Automotive Company Corporation (Pink Sheets:GACR) announces signing a 10-year extension to their Exclusive Sole Agency Agreement with China-based Zotye. The detailed agreement includes a joint venture target in 2012 whereas Zotye and Green Auto anticipate opening a plant in the States for final assembly of the all-electric SUV. Mr. Wu Aibing from Zotye will work directly with Green Auto on this project in the U.S.

Green Auto signed the Agreement in Shanghai after a week of talks in China with Zotye, auto industry, and battery industry executives. Dan Elliott, CEO Green Auto, states, “A whirlwind visit to four cities in five days with numerous meetings was quite successful for Green Auto. We have obviously proven our ability to capture market share in the U.S. by landing this huge 10-year extension. We are going to be their sole agent in the States for the next decade. This partnership is significant to Green Auto and Zotye; they are as excited about this as we are. More importantly, it will have a broad effect on job creation both here and in China as the first high quality Chinese vehicles enter the premier U.S. market.”

“Green Auto together with Zotye will work to open a final assembly plant in the States under the Joint Venture. Zotye agrees with us: once the assembly line starts producing all-electric SUVs, once they hit the road, we can begin to realize our plan for high-end Green vehicles becoming the norm in the U.S. The Company expects our under $35K attractive all-electric SUV to be the most popular on the road because of its performance, mileage radius, and dealer focus,” notes Ben Rainwater, COO Green Automotive.

  2. Where and how to purchase? – Glenn Clark

Ask them. Their web site is given above.

  3. I would like to purchase an electric car. I have considered that I spend about 200.00 a month in fuel, just to go to work; nowhere else. Then there is a payment on my PT cruiser another 219.00 a month. I would much rather spend money on a product and have the profit go to china, a people who are not attacking anyone, than to spend it on a fuel where a major portion of it goes to a region of the world where they outright have demonstrated a propensity for war. as a veteran this really bothers me.

I need to stop using oil products as much as I can. I have noticed that every time the news reports an upturn in our economy, within a week the price of gas takes a hike. This hike is siphoning the surplus money right out of the pocket of the little guy who is struggling to make ends meet. This surplus money is what keeps our economy going …. discretionary spending. there are a lot more people just squeaking by than rich ones. Right now everyone is broke. It all started after Katrina, with a senseless gas hike and has been the catalyst for all our other economic woes, housing, banking,….all of them.

The next thing I buy is going to be a new electric car. If American auto makers can’t wake up and do what is best for our country, then I think they should fail, I believe that from their ashes will be a new American auto maker who will do what is best for our country; not what is best for their pocket books because they should realise that every American is in this together…. every one of us including the auto makers. The American People butter the bread of the auto makers, not the oil industry, and my solution to our economic crisis starts with me getting off oil…. all oil foreign and domestic.

You must drive 35 miles or more to work, almost double what even GM knows is the limit for most people, and yet you bought a 19/24 (?) mpg gas guzzler.

Be that as it may, China is not “peace loving”.
