I did google searches on all these things and got nowhere!
For no known reason, LibreOffice had started not letting me type a second space after a word … unless I backed the cursor up before the one space I had entered and then I could enter just one more, till i backed up again against the last word (or any non-blank character?)
Somehow, I discovered a mention of Tools >> AutoCorrect Options and looked around. I found
Tools >> AutoCorrect Options >> Options
with an “Ignore double spaces” which was checked.
I unchecked it and “Thank goodness!!” that worked.
Also, in the same window I saw “Capitalize first letter of every sentence” and unchecked it also! It was capitalizing the word right after an abbreviation!!
